The Bachelor Degree of Sciences in Nursing prepares general nurses, to provide a holistic health care to individuals and families. The program emphasizes the prevention of diseases and the promotion and maintenance of health. Students learn to intervene with patients in different stages of human growth and development and with complex health conditions in the areas of medical-surgical, maternal-infant, pediatrics, mental health, community, and psychiatric nursing. Diverse selected clinical scenarios, high technology equipment for simulation and community experiences, are used for the development of the competencies of the degree. The graduates of the baccalaureate are prepared to pass the board exam to practice the profession of nursing in Puerto Rico.
