Abstract: The following work presents the result of a mixed research study, exploratory and descriptive; carried out at postgraduate studies, with a sample of 20 students enrolled in the first semester of the Master of Education. Its aim was to analyze the use of Moodle as an appropriate Virtual Learning Environment, conducive to strengthen the Virtual Learning Spaces for developing formative research. To carry out this qualitative research, the technological resources of the three first courses that correspond to the first semester of the abovementioned master were analyzed, in addition to the application of a semi-structured interview, from which key variables emerged: the students’ concept of research, its linkage to their professional field, and the use and frequency of technological tools in Moodle, as resources to create Virtual Learning Spaces that benefit the processes of formative research in the students.  Among the main findings, it was found that students find a close relation between the Virtual Learning Environments and the development of research, which encourages interest for learning and collaborating with peers; however, the role of teachers in enhancing these spaces to strengthen the process of research in their students was also emphasized.

Resumen: El trabajo presentado es el resultado de una investigación con un enfoque mixto, de tipo exploratorio descriptivo, que se realizó en el nivel de Posgrado, con una muestra de 20 estudiantes que cursan el primer semestre de la Maestría en Educación. Su objetivo fue analizar el empleo de la Plataforma Moodle como un Entorno Virtual de Aprendizaje propicio para fortalecer Ambientes de Aprendizaje Virtuales orientados al desarrollo de la investigación formativa. Para llevar a cabo la investigación de corte cualitativo se analizaron los recursos tecnológicos de tres cursos que corresponden al primer semestre de dicha maestría, así como la aplicación de una entrevista semiestructurada en donde se destacaron como variables principales el concepto de tienen sobre investigación, la vinculación de ésta con su ámbito profesional, y finalmente el empleo de las herramientas tecnológicas que utilizan con mayor frecuencia en la plataforma Moodle como recursos para generar Ambientes de Aprendizaje Virtuales que favorezcan los procesos de investigación formativa en los estudiantes. Dentro de los principales hallazgos se encontró que los estudiantes encuentran una relación estrecha entre los Ambientes Virtuales de Aprendizaje y el desarrollo de la investigación, lo cual despierta el interés por aprender y colaborar con sus compañeros, sin embargo, también se destaca la importancia de que los docentes enriquezcan estos espacios para fortalecer los procesos de investigación en sus estudiantes.
