Our history
The beginning of our Department of Communications stated in 1994 when The Universidad Ana G. Méndez, Gurabo campus (Former Universidad del Turabo) stated a Bachelor of Arts in Communications in 1994. For 30 years we have been preparing our student to succeed in the communications Industry. We accept that Communications is a discipline that continuously change with new technology. The new generations that want to work in the media or organizational communications has a new home, Universidad Ana G. Mendez!
We believe that our alumni are our ambassadors, who represents our values in the industry. Our alumni stand out in mayor journals as Primera Hora, El Vocero, Metro and in TV stations Telemundo and Tele Once.
Our Mission
The Program of Communications seeks to prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and integrity to contribute to the communication needs and wants of the communities they serve. We believe that news, information, and ideas are vital to a democratic society and to the civic and economic wellbeing of Puerto Rico. The Department particularly seeks to represent in the industry and profession the experience, perspectives and aspirations of graduates from lower income groups in Puerto Rico, many of whom are first-generation college students.
Specialized Accreditation
The Communications Program at Universidad Ana G. Méndez, Gurabo Campus, is accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC), which is the agency responsible for the evaluation of professional journalism and mass communications programs in colleges and universities. There are 119 schools accredited by ACEJMC.

At the Communications Program, our rigorous assessment process plays a crucial role in guiding the revision, improvement, and innovation of our programs. By identifying areas for enhancement, this process facilitates curriculum development, teaching advancements, and the refinement of student performance.
Our devoted faculty uses different leaning strategies to obtain the best learning experience among our students. The assessment process shows how our students learn and succeed in the industry.
