Abstract: The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) is fast growing in different sectors and nations, especially the western and developed world. Meanwhile, the 4IR is grossly less embraced in the African continent. However, with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the education sector, amongst many others, is beginning to embrace the technologies of the 4IR. Hence, this study explores the connection between the adoption of the technologies of the 4IR and COVID-19 pandemic. A review method was adopted for the study. The findings of the study that the education sector of many African nations was reluctant to accept any form of advancement coming from 4IR due to various reasons and challenges. However, with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the narrative is fast changing.

Título: Revisión de la Cuarta Revolución Industrial (4IR) en relación con la COVID-19 en el sector educativo africano

Resumen:La Cuarta Revolución Industrial (4IR, por sus siglas en inglés) está creciendo rápidamente en diferentes sectores y naciones, especialmente en el mundo occidental y desarrollado. Por el contrario, la 4IR se encuentra muy poco extendida en el continente africano. Sin embargo, con el estallido de la pandemia del COVID-19, el sector educativo, entre muchos otros, está empezando a adoptar las tecnologías de la 4IR. Este estudio explora, por ello, la conexión entre la adopción de las tecnologías de las 4IR y la pandemia de COVID-19. Para la investigación se adoptó un método de revisión. Las conclusiones indican que el sector educativo de muchos países africanos se mostraba reacio a aceptar cualquier forma de avance procedente de las 4IR, debido a diversas razones y desafíos. Sin embargo, con el estallido de la pandemia de COVID-19, la narrativa está cambiando rápidamente.
