Naming Opportunities for Academic Divisions

Universidad Ana G. Méndez (UAGM) has a proud tradition of naming opportunities that enhance the visibility and awareness of our donors throughout the community.  Notable examples include:

The Fundación José A. Tony Santana established in 2008 the naming opportunity of the Hospitality and Hotel programs under José A. Tony Santana International School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts, at UAGM Carolina campus and Cabo Rojo off-campus center.  This partnership with Empresas Santana’s Hotels includes internships, work opportunities and job shadowing for UAGM students. Also, in 2004 the Santana family established an endowed scholarship fund in 2004 for Hospitality and Culinary Arts Students, honoring José A. Tony Santana Mendoza, founder of Empresas Santana.

The José Domingo Pérez Engineering School at the Gurabo campus was established in 2006 by Engineer José Domingo Pérez.  This alliance provides opportunities for our students pursuing Engineering careers and opens doors in the industry. Also established in 2005 the José Domingo Pérez endowed scholarship fund to honor the father of Ing. José Domingo Pérez.

We invite you to consider naming opportunities for Programs and Schools across the following academic divisions:

  • Sciences and Technology Division

Naming Opportunities for Cultural Programs and Projects

Jesús T. Piñero Library and House Museum

Deeply rooted in community engagement and historical preservation, the Jesús T. Piñero Library and House Museum honors the life and legacy of Jesús T. Piñero, the first Puerto Rican governor appointed by President Harry S. Truman in 1946.  José Piñero and Haydeé Piñero Buck, siblings of Jesús Piñero donated the historical papers and memorabilia to UAGM in 2000. The University committed to study the history of Jesús T. Piñero, and build the library that bears his name in 2015 at the UAGM Carolina campus. In 2018, UAGM forged a partnership with the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture and PCLB Foundation, to manage the Casa Museo Jesús T. Piñero, where Governor Piñero lived in Canóvanas.

Through immersive educational experiences, students gain real-world knowledge, while surrounding communities benefit from enriching programs and services.

Piñero Leaders Program

UAGM Students learn and serve in conservation of documents and memorabilia at Casa Museo Piñero and Jesús T. Piñero Library.

Museum and Center of Humanistic Studies Josefina Camacho de La Nuez

The Museum and Center for Humanistic Studies, Dr. Josefina Camacho de la Nuez, was founded in 1981 on the Gurabo Campus of UAGM. It is the only archaeological-folkloric center in the east-central region of Puerto Rico, with the mission of promoting humanistic activities within the university community and disseminating the cultural, historical, and artistic heritage of Puerto Rico. The Museum has greatly benefited from the guidance and advice of Don Ricardo Alegría, a distinguished anthropologist and cultural innovator who played a pivotal role in the origins of this museum. He was a significant figure in Puerto Rico's cultural landscape, setting the standard for the promotion and appreciation of the island's cultural heritage. Beyond the traditional concept of safeguarding and preserving objects of patrimonial value, the MCEH serves as a dynamic space for study, research, and dissemination. Its permanent halls dedicated to archaeology and crafts stand as a testament to the enduring legacy instilled by one of its main founders.

In 2006, the museum was named by Guillermo L. Martínez in honor of his mother, Dr. Josefina Camacho de la Nuez. Other naming opportunities are available.
